THE
PEWKE
BAND

The Pewke Band was formed in 1972 by Alan Hoida (bass, vocals), Paul White (lead, vocals), Dion Cochrane (drums, vocals) and Mart Clarke (rhythm, main vocals).

The band rapidly became the mainstay of the Malvern music scene, supporting visiting mainline bands at the Winter Gardens and playing fortnightly gigs at the Lamb. Click here for some pics of posters from the time...

In 1974 Mart left the band and the remaining members took over the vocals, supported by regular guest singers.

As the The Pewke Band's popularity spread further afield the venue was moved to the Foley Ballroom.

The band split up in 1975.

We could never have imagined that The Pewke Band would reunite 30 years down the line! The band was reformed in November 2005 by Alan, Paul, Dion. As the band became more active Dion dropped out and the band has since evolved into its current line-up, with Alan and Paul remaining as the core members.
